NIWC Atlantic Announces New Executive Director
CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic is pleased to announce the appointment of Greg Lancaster to the Senior Executive Service as the command’s new executive director.
In this role, Lancaster will provide technical leadership, strategic planning, resource allocation and execution oversight to more than 4,100 federal civilian and military personnel who deliver cutting-edge information warfare capabilities to naval and joint forces.
Lancaster previously served as a NIWC Atlantic senior scientific technical manager and department head for Fleet Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) and Readiness in Charleston, South Carolina, where he provided leadership, management and engineering oversight for C4I, network security and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance programs and projects. In this capacity, Lancaster led a team of more than 1,400 engineers, scientists, logistics specialists, technical specialists and financial managers, executing more than 150 projects yearly.
Lancaster began his government career in 1995 as an electrical engineer working for the Naval In-Service Engineering Command – East Coast and has held several leadership positions throughout his career, including lead project engineer of the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Europe office in Stuttgart, Germany, where he managed projects such as network infrastructure design, installation, handheld device deployment and internet access in Kosovo and Bosnia from 2001-2003. In 2009, Lancaster served as chief engineer for the center’s National Cyber Reconnaissance Systems division.
He received a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. In 2009, he received a Master of Business Administration from The Citadel. In 2016, Lancaster completed the Senior Executive Fellows Program at the Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government.
NIWC Atlantic reports directly to NAVWAR, located in San Diego, California, and has major stateside offices in South Carolina, Virginia, Louisiana, Florida and Washington, D.C., as well as overseas posts in Europe, the Middle East and Antarctica.
